Featuring an all star cast including Peter Sandys-Clarke (Desperate Romantics), Tom Conti (Shirley Valentine, Friends), Elizabeth Payne (Minority Report, Alias), Carol Royle (Endeavour, Casualty), Ruby Hartley (The Last Kingdom) and Jeffrey Harmer (An Inspector Calls).
Set in France in the late 1920s, the piece centers around divorcees Amanda and Elyot, honeymooning in the same hotel with their new spouses.
Their chance meeting reminds them of why they fell in love, but also why they couldn’t live together… Sex hormones fizz and flare up in this wonderfully unhealthy and most incessantly flippant play. An immediate hit when it was first staged in 1930, Coward’s sparkling dialogue and repartee have ensured the play’s popularity ever since.
WHAT IS A RADIO PLAY?
Read in an authentic studio setting, these shows will be brought to life with live sound effects in the style of vintage radio drama, live on stage.
A radio play is a performance which has little or no visual components, and depends on dialogue, music and sound effects to tell its story.
This Windsor on Air Season, directed by and starring Tom Conti, celebrates this remarkable and ground-breaking medium by staging it for a live audience.
