The Lady in the Van: Windsor On Air
27th October - 31st October
Tickets from £24.00
Running time approx TBC
Bennett’s most-loved play
The hilarious and touching real-life story that was made into a hit film starring Dame Maggie Smith.
Based on the true story of Alan Bennett’s unique friendship with Mary Shepherd. After allowing her to park her Bedford van in the driveway of his Camden home for three months, the eccentric Miss Shepherd ended up residing there for 15 years!
Leading film, stage and TV actress Jenny Seagrove will be joined by theatre regular Matthew Cottle and Miss Marple‘s David Horovitch who will perform as the two Alan Bennetts. The cast also features West End star Sara Crowe, whose credits include Private Lives, Hay Fever and The Constant Wife, and Ashley D Gayle who starred in last year’s West End production and UK Tour of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and the UK Tour of Holes.
We are also delighted to have Elizabeth Counsell joining us – the stage, screen and TV actress holds an extra special connection to Theatre Royal, as her father John Counsell, and actress mother Mary Kerridge, ran the theatre for nearly 50 years.
Also joining the cast are Martin Carroll, who last visited Windsor with The Cat and The Canary, and stage actor Alan Howell who has previously starred in productions of Save The Last Dance For Me and Cilla The Musical.
