Sean Mathias directs a glittering cast led by Edward Fox, Dame Siân Phillips, and Jenny Seagrove, joined by John Partridge and Finty Williams. The Chalk Garden is sure to please both audiences of the hugely famous film and those new to the charms of this delightful story.

Following a string of failed candidates Miss Madrigal (Jenny Seagrove) is, despite her mysterious background, appointed as the new governess of Laurel (Elsie Bridgwood), a somewhat ‘difficult’ teenage girl. Setting about her task with vigour, Madrigal is determined to do whatever it takes to straighten out her troubled young charge before she becomes totally unmanageable.

However, Laurel’s wealthy and eccentric ex-society grandmother (Dame Sian Phillips), having decided that her granddaughter needs a firmer hand to guide her into adulthood, is soon pulled away from tending her precious garden – when it appears that she has invited a murderess into her house…
